In 2024, we traveled to Mexico with six dear friends, spending a few days exploring Mexico City before heading to the coast and into the path of totality for the solar eclipse. I spent a lot of time looking at the sky and was mesmerized by the brown pelicans gliding overhead and diving into the water for fish. When I turned the photographs into a pattern, all that grey seemed to call for a little experimentation, So I gave the pelicans a pop of pink and blue.
