It all started in April 2024, when Bandita discovered the cat door into our shed. She began stopping by almost every day. Then one afternoon I came home with a trunk full of flowers, and our son was helping me unload them when he casually asked, “When did three raccoons start coming?” “What?” “Yeah. There are three at the shed.” OMG. The babies. She brought me her babies. My heart melted. I named them Luna and Cosmo, and this is Luna. She brought be her 2 babies the following year. I realize I am now dangerously close to becoming a crazy-raccoon-lady meme, but I can’t help it. And that was three generations ago. Bandita has since become the OG of her family dynasty—and, inevitably, a growing collection of raccoon patterns.
