There is a group chat on my phone called "Owl Lovers." Five friends. Hundreds of owl photos. Wild owls, ceramic owls, bookstore owls, vintage owls, thrift store owls—if someone spots an owl, the rest of us will see it within minutes. After a profound Short-eared Owl weekend in the PNW, someone proposed and somehow it all worked out that we all showed up at the New England School of Falconry in Vermont for a private owl experience.
