With one of our daughters living in Australia and another in New York, French Polynesia was somehow halfway—and a pretty great seize-the-day destination. It was every bit as magical as we’d hoped. Walking the boardwalk back to our over-the-water hut, we’d look down to find schools of these—and so many other beautiful fish—swimming through the shallow water below. And as if Bora Bora hadn’t already done enough showing off, it was my birthday, and our last night a full moon rose over it all.
